Large Dog Pet Strollers

February 17, 2021 0
Large Dog Pet Strollers

If you are the owner of a large dog, you know the struggle of taking your pet with you when you're out and about. A pet stroller can make maneuvering your large dog around much easier. Like with any product, there are several considerations to think through before making a purchase.

If you're planning on using your stroller to take your dog to the vet, run errands, and other short trips on smooth surfaces, a light stroller with small wheels will fulfill your needs. Such a stroller is easy to maneuver and often folds down for easy storage. This is especially important if you are traveling with your pet, as space in a car or on a plane is often hard to come by.

For longer trips over rougher terrain, you'll need something a little sturdier. Larger wheels will also handle uneven ground better, making for easier pushing for you and a smoother ride for your dog. Fixed front wheels that do not swivel will make steering over this type of terrain much easier.

The height of the handle is something else to consider. A higher stroller means that you are less likely to be kicking the back wheels if you are jogging or running. A height of at least 37 inches is recommended, though this is largely dependent on your height and what feels comfortable to you.

All strollers should have an advertised weight limit to let you know if it will be able to support your dog or not. Err on the high side when making decisions based on weight. Should your dog gain weight as they get older, you wouldn't want to have to replace your stroller. If your dog is pushing the upper weight limit of a stroller, you should consider getting a heavier one just to be safe.

While some dogs may like being lifted up for a better view, with large dogs it is best to choose a low stroller. Younger dogs may be able to jump into a higher stroller, but this creates more wear and stress on the stroller. Older dogs with mobility problems will appreciate being able to step into a low stroller to go out and get some fresh air.

The fabric that forms the body of the stroller is another important consideration. It needs to be able to withstand the heavy wear of a large dog, particularly one with thick claws. A thicker fabric may cost more, but it pays for itself with increased durability. Denier nylon always has a number attached to it to indicate thickness, and nothing less than 600 is recommended for a large dog's stroller.

Just because you have a large dog doesn't mean that there isn't a pet stroller for you. With some careful considerationFeature Articles, you can find the perfect pet stroller to meet the needs of you and your big pooch.

What Do You Get for the Dog Who Has Everything? How About a Little Bling Bling?

What Do You Get for the Dog Who Has Everything? How About a Little Bling Bling?

It's a must-have for the well-appointed dog, and pet jewelry isn't just for the small breeds anymore. Today's dog jewelry comes in a wide variety of styles to suit dogs of all sizes, breeds, and genders. Think your rugged male St. Bernard would look silly wearing jewelry? Guess again! There's something out there for every pet, and with all these choices . . . what's a dog to do?

There are basically four main categories in pet jewelry: necklaces, branklets, charms, and barrettes.

Necklaces come in a wide variety of materials and styles, and just like the human version are designed to be worn around the neck. Many of them have sterling silver clasps for durability, and rugged construction and style to withstand the rigors of a dog's life. Costume jewelry is cute, inexpensive, and you can buy enough of it to match your own outfit or the whims of the day. Costume jewelry is usually made out of synthetic materials and can mimic crystals, pearls, gemstones, and other beads. In a Southwestern mood? Put your pooch in a leather and turquoise necklace. Looking for something dainty for your toy breed? Try a personalized rhinestone necklace. Does your dog have a larger . . . er . . . bone structure? There are chunkier versions out there designed specifically for bigger dogs.

If you are looking for a piece for a special occasion, pamper your pet with a piece of fine jewelry. There are custom-made creations made of fine materials for owners who are looking for something really unique. Pet necklaces made of Swarovski Austrian crystal are particularly popular, and come in a variety of styles and colors.

Branklets are pet jewelry's latest offering. A branklet gives the owner a choice. Put it above your pet's front paw knuckle, and you have a bracelet. Put it above your pet's hind leg knee, and you have an anklet. Branklets come in a variety of styles and materials--from dainty jeweled leather to more casual denim, from chunky studded leather to Southwestern--and are appropriate for dogs of all sizes and breeds. For those seeking a really put-together look, branklets often come with matching collars.

Charms are a more understated form of pet jewelry, but can really say a lot about the personality of the pet--or its owner. Charms are designed to attach to the collar and can be understated, humorous, practical, sporty, or regal. Have a dog with an attitude? Help him express it with a pewter charm that says "talk to the tail" or "spoiled rotten." If you are looking for something practical, try an understated charm with your dog's name. Charms are ideal for male dogs, as there are lots of sports- and hobby-related charms to choose from.

Barrettes are another form of pet jewelry that is popular, though they are less versatile than the other types of dog adornments. First of all, they don't work for short-haired dogs, are not practical for outside dogs, and for male dogs, well, we won't even go there! However, barrettes are very cute on smaller indoor breeds and lap dogs with plenty of hair.

Pet jewelry is lots of fun and a great way to express your personality and that of your pet. Bring on the bling bling!

2 Minute Guide To Pet Insurance

December 31, 2020 0
2 Minute Guide To Pet Insurance

2 Minute Guide To Pet Insurance

Pets are an integral part of our lives. A pet often becomes like a member of the family. When a beloved pet becomes ill, people often go into debt to pay for treatments. Unexpected expenses resulting from broken bones, swallowed objects or other injuries can quickly become expensive. More people are beginning to purchase pet insurance for their pets. A variety of plans are available to fit your needs.

The most basic plans cover injuries and accidents. These plans cover incidents such as car accidents, broken bones, burns, allergic reactions or injuries involving your pet ingesting foreign objects or poisons. Such plans are relatively inexpensive, costing fewer than twenty dollars a month. With most plans, you are limited to two claims per year. Basic accident plans don't cover expenses related to illness or disease.

Slightly more expensive are plans that cover both accidents and illness. These cover diseases of most major body systems, cancer and infectious disease. The limits on coverage range from two to three thousand dollars or more, varying with the cost of the plan. Many of these plans offer added benefits such as accidental death coverage, which reimburses you the purchase price of your pet, if he or she accidentally dies during treatment. Some plans offer to pay kennel fees for your pet if you are hospitalized and unable to care for your animal - this is an excellent added benefit.

A few companies are now offering plans specifically for older dogs. These plans are only slightly more expensive than those for other dogs. The deductibles tend to be higher on these plans. Pet insurance plans for older dogs cover stroke, heart disease and cancer, which occur most often in the older dog. In order to receive benefits, you must have the insurance before your pet becomes ill. If you suspect your pet is sick, don't waste your money on health insurance. All plans for older dogs have health requirements and require a check up before the policy is issued. These health insurance plans offer euthanasia coverage in the event you would need to put your pet to sleep.

How much money you will save with pet insurance really depends on how often you need it. Unless your dog is accident prone or becomes very ill, the premium may not be worth the expense. Most policies have limits on treatment for cancer or other diseases, usually between two and three thousand dollars. Depending on the plan and the pet, you will spend between two and four thousand dollars for lifetime pet insurance coverage. Comprehensive plans which cover check ups and vaccinations are the best deal in terms of saving money at every visit to the vet.

When comparing pet insurance plans, don't look at the monthly premium alone. A lower premium can mask higher deductibles. Read the plans carefully for information on deductibles and co payments. Check the rates for your pet. Some companies charge higher rates for certain dog breeds, older pets or pre existing medical conditions. Read everything carefully and ask questions. You want a policy that will be worth the money you spend in premiums.

Remember, all insurance companies want to make money. Plans are written to reduce the liability of the company and make a better profit. They stack the deck in their favor by excluding conditions typical in certain breeds. For example, many larger breed dogs are prone to hip dysphasia and certain disorders of the bones and joints, so many pet insurance plans list these ailments in the exclusions for the breeds most prone to the disorders. If you have a breed that is prone to a particular illness and pet insurance won't cover the treatments it may not be worth the premium. For the same reason, pre existing conditions are generally not covered and some plans require a check up with a vet to exclude these.

December 10, 2020 0
Don’t relax alone .. Do it with your dog

The two dogs and people are in need of relaxation. A loosening up day to spend together is a good idea. Go through an entire day of rest and slow-motion with no stress, no pressure, doing things calmly, just to rest and appreciate the beneficial things throughout everyday life.
Also, when you have a dog, it's much better, since they also need few moments  en unwinding(relaxing) now and again.

Here are 6 suggestions for an ideal day of unwinding with your dog...

      1. Take a vacation day:
This is the most clear activity in the case that you truly need to relax: don't go to work. Request a three day weekend; this will permit you to capitalize on it with your dog.

      2. Take an open air nap:
If the climate permits it (in case of a heat wave, try not to do it between the limit of the morning and 4 p.m.), take a decent rest for two outside. There are numerous spots where you can take a daytime snooze, it depends on where you live, for example : beach, park, ...

       3. Do a longer walk :
Give your dog a more extended stroll than expected, preferably on a natural place to consolidate unwinding, joy, and pure air. Strolling can be a decent method to do some physical activity.
You may use many things present in your walking environs as a tool in order to play and do different activities. For example :
* an all-inclusive round of catch or bring
* Hiking between trees or objects
* running in a public park
* playing with a tree branch
* walking and bounce along a small ravine
* playing Tug of war with your dog
* or even hide-and-seek

      4. Get some well beings and rubs :
What in the event that you devoted this relaxing day to well-being care for you and your little companion? Clearly, if your financial plan permits, make an arrangement in a massage parlor and do likewise for your doggie. There are, in fact, canine's rub experts, however, you can do it yourself by learning the fundamental developments.

      5. Strengthen your bond :
In addition to the caresses that we provide for our canine every day, sometimes even automatically and unconsciously, there are others that we give by looking at them straight in their eyes, looking for a genuine bond.
Simply, be mindful so as not to pet your furry companion where it doesn’t like to be touched excessively; for certain dogs, it is the rump, while for other ones, it is head.

      6. Relax at home :
You can just spend your day unwinding at home, sitting idle, doing nothing, being pleased and amused with your soft couch and watching TV with your doggie on your lap. Give it a few treats and let him realize the amount you love it.

There are countless ways that help you to connect even more with your four legged companion. You can certainly imagine and create many ways on your own.

If you used one of these tricks before, or you have some additional ideas ; please share some with us on the comment below.
